Microsoft will be issuing an out of band patch for Internet Explorer for all of their operating systems and all versions (5 through 8 beta). Read more here. Basically, IE is really unsafe (no, duh) and you shouldn't be using it.
I mean it. This is my day job...
Really now, practice safe net:
Chrome
Firefox
Opera
Safari
These are all alternatives and I recommend most of them for your daily browsing needs. Unless you really need IE, I suggest switching and switching for good.

I bought a Mac about six months ago because I was tired of having to constantly patch the Microsoft crap. I still have to run Windows but do it in a window on my Mac. Microsoft is way too busy with marketing their crap to invest in making it good. Apple has their own set of issues but at least getting the functionality out there is first, marketing second. it just works.
Thanks for posting this!
that's it...I'm going back to clay tablets...
I'm essentially OS agnostic (meaning: they all suck). I had a Powerbook that I liked until it jumped off of my desk, I run Ubuntu 8.10 on my desktop at home and bounce between Ubuntu and XP on the laptop (I can't really decide), my day job consists of shepherding Windows and OpenBSD servers and Cisco routers.
They all need to fixed, but some more than others...
I like the constant updates. They make me less productive.
Firefox has been judged as the least secure browser, believe it or not. Opera and Chrome are still looking good, though...
hey linux is a nice os. It doesn't crash at the most inopportune moments anyway.
I get the feeling that the people who use IE are the developers, developers, developers who force people to use it since their sites are coded to render correctly in IE.
